Warren E. Hearnes Memorial Golf Tournament
The Warren E. Hearnes Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2020. The tournament will be held at the Hidden Trails Country Club in Dexter, MO. All proceeds of the tournament support Legal Services of Southern Missouri’s mission of providing equal access to justice in Southeast Missouri.

The American Association of Law Libraries recently announced winners of their 2020 Awards Program, and University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Law, Leon E. Bloch Law Library, and Legal Aid of Western Missouri received the Excellence in Community Engagement Award for our Self-Help Law Clinic.
VAP Golf Tournament Postponed Until 2021
In the interest of everyone’s health and well-being, our golf tournament scheduled for August 21, 2020 has been cancelled.    
Author Matthew Desmond and Rep. Tom Emmer Discuss Evictions Amid COVID-19
Pulitzer Prize-winning author Matthew Desmond and Rep. Tom Emmer (MN-6) joined leaders from legal aid organizations for a virtual briefing on evictions amid the COVID-19 pandemic on June 22. The briefing explored the importance of civil legal aid for families vulnerable to housing loss due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Rep. Joe Kennedy Calls for $2.5 Billion Additional Legal Aid Funding to LSC in COVID-19 Relief Funds
WASHINGTON – Rep. Joe Kennedy III (MA-4) called on Congressional leadership yesterday to provide $2.5 billion funding for Legal Services Corporation (LSC) and civil legal aid organizations in the next COVID-19 emergency funding package.
LSC Estimates Grantees Would Need $2.5 Billion to Address Eviction Surge
WASHINGTON – The Legal Services Corporation (LSC) has calculated it would cost $2,567,000,000 for its grantees to meet the legal needs of low-income Americans at risk of eviction. 
Why I Give To Legal Aid
According to something called the World Giving Index, Americans are the most generous people in the world. No surprise to most, since everywhere you turn these days you hear of examples of philanthropy – whether its Bill Gates, Warren Buffet or just the rest of us who find our own charities and support them year after year. I read where 10,000 GoFundMe campaigns are created every day.
