Types of Free Services Provided by Missouri Legal Aid Programs
There are numerous types of cases handled and services provided by legal aid programs in Missouri.  They include:  
Justic Speaks - St. Louis, MO
Join us on Friday, October 4, 2019 for the JUSTICE SPEAKS Luncheon with National Public Radio correspondent and Supreme Court Commentator, Nina Totenberg. The event will be held 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Hyatt Regency at the Arch in St. Louis. Her timely appearance – just before the Supreme Court begins its new session – will include insightful discussion of headline -making cases and features her famous predictions for which cases the Court will hear in the upcoming year.
Mid-Missouri Legal Services Helps Bridge the "Opportunity Gap" for Mid-Missourians

The Robert C. Welch Volunteer Attorney Project Awards - LAWMO
The Robert C. Welch Volunteer Attorney Project Award was created in partnership with the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and the Legal Services of Western Missouri (LAWMO) to recognize attorneys who, through their participation in the LAWMO Volunteer Attorney Project (VAP), have demonstrated exemplary commitment to the delivery of pro bono services in our community. The 22nd Annual Justice for All Luncheon that was planned for June 2020 has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
Legal Services of Eastern Missouri Awarded Pro Bono Innovations Grant
WASHINGTON – The Legal Services Corporation (LSC) announced today that Legal Services of Eastern Missouri will receive a $316,361 Pro Bono Innovation Fund grant. LSC’s Pro Bono Innovation Fund is intended to encourage and expand pro bono efforts and partnerships to serve more low-income clients.
LSC Releases Data Behind Legal Aid Organizations 2019 Report
WASHINGTON – The Legal Services Corporation (LSC) today released By the Numbers: The Data Underlying Legal Aid Programs. This annual report provides an overview of the work undertaken by LSC-funded legal aid organizations around the country in the prior year. It includes data on the number of cases closed, the subject matter of cases handled, the legal services provided, client demographics, program staffing, cases done by pro bono lawyers, and more.
A "Clean Slate" - New Missouri Law Removes Criminal Records
A new state law is helping those with criminal records get a fresh start.  The law, which went into effect in 2018, dramatically expanded the number of crimes eligible for expungement, including felonies that are often lifelong hurdles to employment and housing. Now, the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Foundation and Legal Services of Southern Missouri are hosting a series of clinics in northwest Springfield to connect eligible low-income individuals with prior convictions to free legal services.
