Divorce
A divorce can take place if the marriage is irretrievably broken. The case is decided by a judge without a jury. In Missouri, either the husband or the wife must have lived in the state for 90 days before the divorce can be filed.
The purpose of this article is to answer some of the questions that parents and custodians frequently ask about obtaining and enforcing child support orders, and to give you an idea of the services available to assist you in your efforts.

Child support is money that either or both parents are ordered to pay on a regular basis toward the costs of raising their child (ren).

A divorce or break-up doesn’t end your duty to be a good parent. You may feel hurt, and you may have many things to worry about, but you need to help your children cope with the uncertainty of a divorce or the ending of their parents’ relationship together.
Turning your children against their other parent is not the solution. If that happens, everyone will suffer, and it may backfire on you. Try to be helpful to your children and work to make your own life — and theirs — happy and successful.

Requirements for a Valid Marriage
A marriage causes many legal consequences that affect a couple’s future life together, including: filing tax returns, employment-related benefit pro- grams, the legal right to inherit assets if your spouse dies and, if there is a divorce, issues of support, maintenance (formerly called alimony), child custody and division of property.
What is adoption?
Adoption is the legal process which establishes a parent/child relationship between two people who are not otherwise biologically parent and child.
Who is involved in an adoption
The parents who wish to adopt, the child or children who are to be adopted, and the birth parents of the child or children.
What is required to adopt a child or children?
Can you change your name without going to court?
Yes, a person can change their name through usage. However, changing your name in this way is not recommended because there is no official record of the change.
What do I need to say in a Petition for Change of Name?
Missouri requires you to include the following in a Petition for Change of Name:
The person’s current name and new name desired
The reason for the change
