Justice Index Score for States
The Justice Index is an online resource that relies on findings, indicators, indexing and other data-analytics tools to help ensure that a person’s ability to protect and vindicate her rights in a state justice system does not depend on whether she can afford a lawyer, speak and understand English, or navigate the legal system without an accommodation due to a physical or mental disability.
How Legal Aid Works
Legal Services Corporation (LSC) is an independent nonprofit established by Congress in 1974 to provide financial support for civil legal aid to low-income Americans. LSC promotes equal access to justice by providing funding to 133 independent non-profit legal aid programs in every state, the District of Columbia, and U.S. Territories. LSC grantees serve thousands of low-income individuals, children, families, seniors, and veterans in 813 offices in every congressional district.
The Justice Gap Report 2017
Legal Services Corporation (LSC) - 2017 Justice Gap Report - Measuring the Civil Legal Needs of Low-income Americans The Justice Gap: Measuring the Unmet Civil Legal Needs of Low-income Americans report explores the “justice gap,” the difference between the civil legal needs of low-income Americans and the resources available to meet those needs in 2017.
Offices
 You can apply for legal aid at one of the offices listed below by telephone.  Also, you can apply online with Legal Services of Eastern Missouri or Legal Services of Southern Missouri by clicking on their "Apply Online" link.   The counties are listed under each office or you can click the following link to see which legal aid program serves your county:  Program Service Area Map

LSC Leaders Confident of Bipartisan Support in Wake of Trump's Defunding Proposal
February 12, 2018 WASHINGTON – President Trump’s budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2019 released today calls for defunding the Legal Services Corporation (LSC), but LSC leaders remain confident of continued bipartisan Congressional support. LSC is the nation’s largest single funder of civil legal aid, distributing more than 94% of its funding to more than 800 offices nationwide. These organizations serve low-income individuals, children, families, seniors, and veterans in every congressional district.
Moving Children After Court Ordered Visitation
Missouri has laws about changing the permanent residence of your children after a divorce or custody matter is final. If you do not follow these laws, you may risk losing custody or visitation rights. Dealing with Debt Collectors - LSSM
In 1977, the United States Congress passed the “Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.”  Congress said there were abusive actions being taken by many debt collectors.  Congress found that these practices invaded privacy.
