See what cuts to LSC would mean to your community

LSC

Actions speak louder than words. Last week, members of Congress sent a powerful message by taking concrete steps to protect civil legal services.

The House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies proposed $300 million in funding for the Legal Services Corporation (LSC), while the Senate Appropriations Committee approved an increase—raising LSC’s funding to $566 million.

Neither the House nor the Senate followed the White House’s proposal to eliminate LSC funding entirely. That’s a testament to the strong bipartisan support for legal aid.

But the threat of deep cuts remains. The House proposal would slash $260 million from our current $560 million appropriation—jeopardizing access to legal help for nearly 3 million Americans.

What would potential cuts mean for your community?
