LSSM Mourns the Loss of Former Executive Director Douglas Kays

Legal Services of Southern Missouri (LSSM) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of former Executive Director Doug Kays. Doug dedicated 35 years of service to LSSM, retiring in 2015. His visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to justice were instrumental in shaping the organization into what it is today.

During his tenure, Doug’s passion for serving the community and ensuring access to justice for all was evident in every aspect of his work. His legacy of compassionate leadership and tireless advocacy will continue to inspire the LSSM team as they carry on his mission.

“Doug Kays dedicated 35 years to Legal Services of Southern Missouri, and his impact is woven into the very fabric of our organization,” said Sharon Alexander, Chief Operating Officer. “His commitment to justice laid the foundation for the work we continue today. Our hearts are with his family during this difficult time.”

LSSM extends its deepest condolences to Doug’s family and friends. His contributions to the organization and the legal aid community will be greatly missed.
